Stop Fixing, Start Aligning
There comes a time in everyone’s journey when we realize that growth is no longer about fixing. None of us are broken. Even if we still have unhealthy coping mechanisms or still get triggered, that doesn’t mean we’re broken. It is information that lets us know we’re misaligned from who we already are. We’ve stepped out of ourselves and our true nature.
As we navigated childhood into adulthood, we forgot ourselves. We got caught up in the illusion of chaos and the conditioned mind. We suppressed our intuition and our natural gifts in exchange for blending in with the masses and chasing materialism. We got caught up in playing the game of Earth Life, which is a distraction from knowing ourselves and our purpose for being here.
The further we moved away from our true selves, the more it caused suffering. When we hit our pain threshold, we sought out solutions. Which sounds logical, except most of the solutions are based in lessoning the symptoms rather than addressing the root, which is a disconnection from ourselves. More often than not, we tried to outrun the pain by filling our time and keeping our minds busy—or numbing both.
Addiction can come in many forms, even some that society promotes and rewards.
Most of us believe that we aren’t enough in some form or capacity, and we need to constantly improve. That somewhere out in a hypothetical future, we’ll achieve “perfection.” That our bodies and minds are something to tame, maximize, optimize, and fit perfectly into an acceptable container that is always—and only—pleasant and aesthetically pleasing to others.
The spiritual community is not immune from this, either. There may be fancier words, but there’s no amount of crystals, rituals, ceremonies, essential oils, books, teachers/gurus, or energy healings that can replace returning to our self-sovereignty and personal power that is our birthright.
As long as we’re looking for problems to solve, we’ll always have problems. As long as we’re seeking solutions outside of ourselves, we’ll be perpetually seeking without satiation.
Where attention goes, energy flows. Our attention creates our reality.
If we focus on remembering who we are, what we are not will release automatically. It’s like turning on a light in a dark room. The light does what the light does.
When I was a kid, I learned that in order to train FBI agents how to identify counterfeit money, they taught them to memorize real currency. Agents spent an inordinate amount of time intimately getting to know the real bills. Their texture, smell, identifying qualities, fibers, size, etc. If they knew the real deal, then it would be easy to identify anything fake.
This is what I’m talking about with remembering yourself. Learn what truly makes your heart soar. Trust the inner voice inside you—the one that speaks without a charge like it’s giving a weather report.
You are the guru you’ve been waiting for.
Become still enough to BE with yourself—even and especially if its messy at first—so that you can intimately get to know the real you underneath the layers and the distractions. Be willing to accept all of you exactly as you are right now so that the real you can feel vulnerable enough to be seen beneath the performance.
Who were you before the world taught you to be someone else? Re-acquaint yourself with that person.
When you stay aligned in your authenticity, everything that doesn’t align with you will eventually fall away. That might also mean relationships, roles, career, and lifestyle will change. There may be a period where you grieve the loss of these, and that’s okay. Keep going. Stay true to you. I promise it is just making space for more of what aligns with you.

Once you get a taste of the freedom of alignment, you won’t want to settle for the fake stuff. It will feel like putting on clothes that are too tight.
When you’re in alignment with your true nature, you have access to answers. They were inside you all along. You become the oracle. You reclaim your power. You remember who you are.
